The Hollies Bookkeeping celebrates 12 years in business
Julie Williams, Director of The Hollies Bookkeeping is celebrating 12 years since took the plunge to become a bookkeeper in Shropshire.
Julie has worked in accountancy roles since 1996, working with various industries all around the country. When she moved back to Shrewsbury in 2003, she decided to start home-study with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and gained her qualifications in Bookkeeping and Payroll both Manual and Computerised (Sage).
Her new skills helped her gain the confidence to set up her own business as a self-employed bookkeeper in March 2010. To start with she gained a few clients locally (all females) as well as looking after her partner’s construction industry accounts, CIS, VAT and Payroll.
But the work kept coming and the company continued growing until Julie needed to take on someone else. This grew to another person, and they quickly realised they couldn’t fit round her dining table anymore and needed office space.
Hollies Bookkeeping moved to Pontesbury in January 2014 and a year later, Julie turned the business into a Limited Company, and seven years after moving in The Hollies has grown from three to a team of currently seven.
The team now handles Self-Assessments, Limited Company Accounts and Corporation Tax returns using preferred cloud-based software including Xero, Dext and SageCloud.
Despite lockdown, 2021 saw new team members and business expansion for The Hollies Bookkeeping Services to help serve its valued client base in Shropshire, Wales, nationwide and even overseas.
The team moved into Suite 6 at Bennetts Business Centre in Pontesbury back in 2013 and soon found it needed more space, expanding into Suite 7 for meetings and filing in March 2016.
Julie said: “It has been quite a journey over the last 12 years. We have welcomed new faces and said goodbye to some, including office dogs Carla who were very much part of the team. Some of our clients have taken us with them as they have moved across to the other side of the world as far as Australia. But we are proud to have such a solid client base and we always look forward to meeting new clients.”
Last year, the team graduated to another floor, moving downstairs into Suite 9. Away from the office, Julie is still a Shrewsbury Town fan, she loves reading when she has time, and loves nothing more than to head out with the dogs for a good walk in the countryside or take them on holiday.
